I am overflowing with excitement as I begin to plan my up coming blog posts. There are so many things I want to share with you that I barely know where to begin. I have been dreaming about this blog for years now! Today, let me simply explain why this is so fulfiling for me, and what you can do to feel the same.

Before I regularly used a computer, I carried a notebook and pencil with me where ever I went. To me, a journal is a beloved friend. I didn't always write coherently, mostly I just doodled and made lists, but I always loved it. Even when my journal entries were dark and self-hating, I enjoyed writing it down. When I couldn't tell a soul about what was really going on with me, a pencil and paper kept my secrets. When I felt like no one cared about what I had to say, an empty page told me to imagine anything I wanted and go on and on endlessly. I would practice my hand writing for hours. I drew and wrote nonsence to get through every boring class. When I got more serious about my art and painting, I loved to brainstorm ideas by writing words and frases all over my scketches. And in the last two intensely difficult years of my life, through the desicion to stop taking psychiatric medication, moving to a strange new country and entering motherhood, writing is the thing I keep doing almost on a daily basis just to pass the time.
My sentiment right now is that there is no greater thing we can do to transform our lives than to spend our time doing something that we love. What could be more self-loving than allowing yourself to experience what you love to experience? Raising your self-esteem is important and having self confidence helps you out, but sometimes, no matter what techniques we try, we just can't seem to feel good about ourselves. Doing something you love allows you to just forget about yourself, your image, your ego, your sence of identity, and just feel joy and appreciation. And the more often you feel that light, happy sensation, the more natural it will become for you. Happiness can heal your whole body and your mind too. It's also the key to getting to where you really want to go in your life.
Find out what that thing is for you that allows you to forget about yourself and just be. It could be cooking or dancing. Maybe it's making origami or talking to your grandpa. If you really love petting your dog, spend as much time as possible petting your dog! If it is hard for you to identify these things at first, here are a few tips: If while you are doing this thing, you think to yourself "Oh, I'm not doing this well enough," then that's not the perfect activity for you. If while you are doing that thing, drawing that picture or writing that story, you can't wait to be done, so that you can show your friends and see what they think about it, that's NOT the thing you love. You will never try to rush the thing you love to do. You will draw it out as long as possible because you want to savor the experience. You won't be thinking about yourself and how this effects your self esteem or your idea of yourself. It makes you loose track of time and loose track of yourself. The only thing that exists in that moment is the mop, the bubbles, the dirt, and the force necessary to scrub it all out (if you love cleaning). Or the fabric, the thread and the needle (if you love sewing). Or the nail, the polish and the brush (if you love painting nails). Or the perfect words to express exactly what you mean. Okay, I think you get the picture by now.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then just start noticing how you feel or what you're thinking while you are doing the tasks you at least like a little bit. What parts of them do you like the most? Start there. Is there any part of your day you are always looking forward to? Chances are it is something you love to do. And yes, sleeping counts!!! At least at first, while you are trying to figure this out. As you start looking for the things you like, you will get closer and closer to the things you love. And paradoxically, as you loose yourself in the the things you love, you will get closer and closer to the real you!
Thank you for taking the time to read the things I love to write. It makes me so happy to share my ideas and opinions with others. I hope they helped you gain a new perspective.
Keep an eye out for my next post, where I will giving you a better idea of what else is to come in future blog post :)
Love you guys!
